Chocolate Chip muffins

Today in class 1, the children headed over to the garden to collect our newly sprung potatoes! They loved searching through the soil to find the biggest they could see. With the animals, the class all observed how fast our baby chicks have grown, and gave them some love (and food!) Over in the kitchen, they all cooked up some fluffy looking chocolate chip muffins, everybody had a great time helping to add the ingredients! In class 3, the older children were focusing on the theme of opposites. We begun the class with a matching game, for words such as soft & hard, thick & thin; Day & night. Opposites

Happy Tuesday! It's starting to feel like summer here at Casa Nostra! Class one made the most of the lovely weather and spent as much time around the farm as they could, feeding the animals and tending to our vegetable garden, giving them all a big drink and the dig for potatoes!! In the kitchen they made delicious chocolate chip muffins and worked on numbers while they cooked! Class two are now preparing for their end of year show! They are learning a fun song and dance about jungle animals so they starting making their costumes for the big night and we starting to practise the song!! They are doing so well already!! Family Theme

Today was a fantastic day in granja escola casa nostra. The first class started the day with the family theme. When they entered to the class we welcomed them with a nice song then we did a nice booklet with words like, daddy, mummy, brother, sister... After that we went out and we picked potatoes in the garden. We baked cup cakes and then we had a nice visit in the animals, the children fed them gently and enjoyed it a lot. The second class for baking used letter stencils to create each our own names. We dug for potatoes in the garden then gave the vegetables a nice drink. Manmade objects

Today at Granja Escola we all marvelled at the flourishing garden. Lots of new vegetables growing! The English greens were ready to pick so everyone took home a great big bunch! Jo's class of lovely girls were looking at all things nature, now the weather is warming up, we spent a lot of time out on the farm, looking at all the flowers, trees and wildlife. Class 3 were looking at nature vs manmade objects. They all identified well which items were not natural and which were. They then took a closer look at the nature surrounding us around the garden, taking in all the vocabulary well!

Road vocabularies

Today was a nice day and we have had so much fun in granja escola. The first class started the day with road vocabularies and worked on different words like bus, taxi, airplanes... Then they went and visited the animals and fed them. In the garden they picked onions, they had lovely pizza for snack then when they went to the classroom they made their own airplaned and decorated really nice. The second class started their day by working on the new words in the classroom. Àneu was really good at it. Fruit trees

Class 1 spent today taking a look at the various fruit trees around the farm and how they are flourishing. Using all their vocabulary to indentify the colour and size! They also went to the garden, and collected themselves a huge leafy lettuce! Back in the classroom, they crafted their own paper aeroplanes, which they decorated nicely themselves... and enjoyed the challenge of seeing how far they could fly. In class 3, the older children made a little booklet titled ' all about me', the got stuck into a sorting activity, of all the things they like and dislike. Its a work in progress, but the beginnings are looking wonderful. (Particularly the self portraits that they stuck to the front!)

Word cards game

Class 1 started the day with word cards game, then picked up some big lettuces. After breakfast we went to feed the animals an spent a lot of time petting our beautiful Perla ! An after cooking butter shortbreads, we've drawn ourselves on paper which was really fun to do and see ;) Another amazing day with the awesome Saturday group !!! The second class revised food vocabulary and wrote a shopping list of items that they would buy on a Dailey food shop. And then they popped the items in heir shopping trollies. Collecting lettuces

Today, the sun finally came out and we had a great time in the garden with Alex, Maria, Nicasi and Marc! We were digging the earth in order to make space for the onions to grow, we also picked huge lettuces for everyone to take home and have for dinner! We cooked tomato bread today with olive oil, Alex enjoyed eating the tomato sauce before it was even on his dough! In our crafts activity, we were focusing on self-portrait and what we look like and what features on our face are called. Nicasi colored his whole face and body in blue! Emotions

Today, class 1's activities were focusing on patterns and self portraits! They each had a large a3 paper and drew a picture of themselves, focusing on hair, eyes, nose and mouth. The teachers shared that Pau is an amazing artist. His lines were straight and all of his facial features were realistic and accurate. Their next task was to colour in the catapillars body copying the colours the sheet had previously drawn. This involved lots of counting and concentration! During farm time, the children collected the chickens eggs, fed the donkeys, ponys and goats and then went to make cinnamon swirls in the outdoor kitchen! The kids loved to create a swirly shape with the sweet cinnamon dough!

Creating colours

Class 1: Today, Class was focused on creating colours and mixing them. The students learned how to mix primary colours to make secondary colours. Jan learned how to make green, using blue and yellow for example. Some of the students also used their new knowledge of colours to paint images of characters they knew. It was a bit messy, but he did really well. In the kitchen, we made corn flake cakes. Each student had their own bowl in which they mixed the ingredients and made their own cupcakes from them.
