Static energy

This week we welcomed two new teachers to our school: Anthony from England and Markus from Germany. We spent the week revising our phase 4 Phonics and beginning with phase 5! This means we now know more than one way of writing the same sound and so we have to think very carefully about which one to use! (Eg igh and ie - fight and tie). In Maths, we have been learning about time. We are now able to say o’clock and half past times. Next week we will continue learning about time. We started learning about electricity ready for our trip to the science museum next week. We talked about what electricity is, where it comes from and what items use electricity. Next week we will look at which materials are able to conduct electricity.

The older children were looking at the properties of 2D and 3D shapes in Maths this week. We also used mirrors to learn more about symmetry before reviewing our knowledge of perimeter and area. For our Science lessons we were able to go to the park to look at different flowers to study in depth with microscopes. We also observed the living things in our habitat and revisited our knowledge of food chains. On Friday, Kieran's sister Paula visited the school to help the children in Ronita's class. We were very grateful for her support and for her company. In corners, we looked at lots of different experiments involving electricity, including electrical circuits and moving objects with static energy.
